Art DECO

SO my roommate moved out OFFICIALLY today... SoSOoooOo sad!!!!

I came home from work to an empty looking apartment :(

I decided to aid my sadness with some shopping (I had to make a quick stop at AmAp to do a pull for our African shoot)... I picked up some cable knit thigh high socks, a navy striped bra, and a white deep v... I figured I could complete the fringed suede skirt outfit I had purchased earlier. Now all I need are those fabulous(ly expensive) cowboy boots from Browns! <3

Anyway

after doing some grocery shopping to stock my empty kitchen (due to this week's constant outings) I put away my laundry and began cleaning and redecorating my apartment.

It gives me such a sense of peace to completely (what feels like) re-organize my life.  It also provided me with ample time to reflect on this weeks events...'nuff said about that.

I'm pretty stoked on how my apartment looks for the time being...until Sam moves and we officially own more shoes than the Brown's stock room carries...

Here's some photos from this past week...

Eco Dress

I know it's already up on my site, but this shoot I'm probably the MOST proud of, out of all the work I've done with "The team"

I had to build an "eco display" at work, with my co-worker, Courtney Turner. We made a dress out of recycled materials and silk plants.

I got in contact with the Costume Museum of Canada, and asked if we could do a live shoot during their "Green is the New Black" Fashion Event.

This is how we rolled

*Headpiece made my me as well out of recycled materials - I think there's everything from a second cup lid to the inside pieces of a flashlight!

Styling Update - Creatives

I'm so stoked on this month!

We're (Janelle and Janique, and myself) working with a few different Winnipeg photographers on a couple creatives.

I just did a shoot tonight that was very "Blade Runner"-esque!
I truely am sick of doing shoots at work in the mannequin room... I totally get that it's UBER creepy to be in a room full of mannequins, body parts, and broken pieces... but it's totally unoriginal to shoot there for me now... I just feel it's overdone. but that's because I always get asked to use it. lol.

Anyway, tonight I worked with a whole new crew. Mike Latschislaw shot, and we used a very stunning model from Swish, Jen  (Great facial bone structure...). I actually created Jen's look from ripped up black fabric/pantyhose, metal chains, duct tape, electrical tape, and leather. I'm stoked to see how it translated!

I made Mike take some photos in the basement of HBC to show everyone WHY I say it's so terrifying to be down in the prop warehouse alone... lol. I will post them when I get 'em.
Stay tuned!

This is London

COME ON!!!!
Colours...textures...layers...

I'm crazy about the colour combo going on here...

What I wouldn't do for those shoes...

I can't get enough of UK street fashion...
not only because I get to wait 3 years for it to make its way into north american mainstream culture to be "in fashion," but because, well you know... I'm all over that hobo-chic, street kid look.

If men took the time, they'd fit the crime (give me back my heart)

2) oversized, distressed boyfriend shorts

3)to just admit to my love to beat up nylons and killer accessories

3)a killer boy with killer style

4)thigh high/knee highs
